THE
HISTORY OF SHARKSTOCK

The
original "Sharkstock" event was the brainchild of Jackie
Bryant and the North East Texas Parrot Head Club. The event was held on
Jackie's property in Bivins, TX,
and it was fondly referred to as "The Party in a Pasture."
Great friends, music and food, all in a rustic, pastoral setting in the
small North East Texas town.
Late
in 2007 an idea was hatched at the PHiP South Region Club Leaders Phling
to create a true regional event that would be put on and enjoyed by the
clubs of the South Region. Planning began immediately without an actual
name, only being referred to as the "South Region Event" by
the planning committee.
In 2008 Jackie Bryant, knowing that plans were under way on a new event,
came up with an idea: he offered to hand over the "Sharkstock"
name and the entire event package to the clubs of the South Region.
Jackie's vision was to see the "Party in the Pasture" blossom
into a full-fledged Parrot Head Phlocking, to be enjoyed by all of his
friends around the South Region and beyond.
Jackie's generous gift allowed the all NEW "Sharkstock 2009"
to get started off on solid ground, including inheriting an already
established 501(c)3 nonprofit designation. Jackie helped the new event
get started without a large expenditure of funds and saved a great deal
of time and effort for the planning committee.
So, here's a toast to you Jackie! We hope that the new version of
Sharkstock 2009 will make you proud to have been such an integral part
in establishing an event that will soon be the pride of the South
Region!
